A year ago in February we started our biggest adventure together yet, we became homeowners! The entire process was such a whirlwind. Before we knew it, we were surrounded by boxes inside walls that said “home.” I still find myself smiling and saying “This can’t be real!” every afternoon when I pull into the driveway.
While it took some time for us and the cats to get settled, we decided once the craziness faded we would host a housewarming/engagement party. My one goal (besides to hide all unpacked boxes in the basement) was to design our invitation to send out to our family and friends for the celebration.
I used a mixture of Illustrator and InDesign to create the design. I drew the pictures in Illustrator and then placed out the fonts and background images in InDesign. The rustic wood background I found on Etsy from PaperElement.
Overall I was super happy with the design I created (after making about 3 different designs and a bunch of minor changes over and over again…thanks to my fiancé for being patient ) Here it is!

We will call this place our home,
The dirt in which our roots may grow.
Though the storms will push and pull,
We will call this place our home.Smaller than dust on this map
